Communications Internship
The Organic Farming Research Foundation regularly serves as a media resource for topics related to organic farming research, farm policy, and the organic industry. OFRF also tracks important organic media stories and responds to information requests from organic farmers and the media. The program monitors and documents organic news and research activities at public institutions.
The desired intern will be well versed in social media platforms such as Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, and RSS. Intern will perform news media searches seeking information on current trends in organic agriculture and disseminate search results using email, newsletters, social media and printed publications. Intern will also engage in on-going media database update project. Ideal candidate will have experience using databases and be familiar with data entry.
Reports to: Communications Director
Areas of Focus:
- General interest in food, agriculture, organic farming, and sustainability.
- Familiarity with web-based news feeds and email.
- Familiarity with social networking through Facebook, Twitter and other networking services.
- Familiarity with general database management concepts and willingness to participate in ongoing media database update project.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Excellent writing and communication skills.
- Must provide general administrative support such as answering phones, responding to emails, and be able to work well in an office environment.
- Familiarity with design software (Adobe Photoshop, Indesign, Illustrator, Dreamweaver) and web technologies a plus.
