2010 EQIP Organic Initiative
March 12 Deadline Approaching
The deadline for applying to the 2010 Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) Organic Initiative is just 10 days away, in most states. Interested producers must submit their applications to their Natural Resources Conservation Service local service center by March 12, 2010 if they want to be considered for the program. (A few states have later deadlines.) The EQIP Organic Initiative is a USDA program that provides financial and technical assistance to growers to implement on-farm conservation practices relevant to organic agriculture.
OFRF's EQIP Organic Initiative Resource Page has helpful information on the program for interested producers. The page includes instructions on the application process, eligibility criteria, practices and payments, and a list of the states with deadlines later than March 12. It also contains a list of organizations assisting growers in specific states, and links to other informative webpages. We have been updating this page as needed so check back frequently.
