OFRF’s Annual Fall Organic Harvest Benefit Event moved this year to the beautiful (and roomy) One Market Restaurant in San Francisco. Once again, leaders of the Northern California organic food and farming community gathered to celebrate the season and support the ongoing work of OFRF. As part of our ongoing tradition of paying tribute to an important member of our community, we were proud to honor Mark Van Horn, long-time director of the Student Farm at the University of California, Davis. We were pleased to present Mark with a gorgeous farm landscape painting by renowned Central California artist Paul Buxman.
The dinner raised more than $85,000 for OFRF’s grantmaking, policy and education programs.
An all-star team of Bay Area chefs served up a menu seasonal, organic and farm-fresh fare to the more than 140 attendees, in keeping with OFRF’s mission and the philosophy of the participating chefs. Coordinating chef John Mitchell of Whole Foods Market was joined by culinary luminaries Charles Phan of Slanted Door, Jan Birnbaum of the new EPIC Roasthouse, host chef Mark Dommen of One Market, Rebecca King of Garden Variety Cheese and One Market pastry chef Patty Dellamonica-Bauler.
Whole Foods Market co-hosted the event, as it has since 1993, and was the lead sponsor with a contribution of $30,000 to support OFRF’s efforts to meet the information needs of organic family farmers.
