Organic Farming Research Foundation Hires
Seasoned Administrator as Deputy Director
Maureen Wilmot Adds Depth in Research
and
Organizational Structure
SANTA CRUZ, Calif. – The Organic Farming Research Foundation (OFRF) increased its organizational depth this week with the hiring of Maureen Wilmot as its new Deputy Director.
Wilmot is a trained biologist with strong professional background in policy development, non-profit management and community activism. Her professional and personal life is focused on sustainability, with an emphasis on ocean conservation, green building and organic foods.
“Maureen will add significant depth of experience in scientific research and fresh policy perspectives to our core mission of fostering the improvement and widespread adoption of organic farming practices,” said OFRF Executive Director Bob Scowcroft. “We are already integrating her organizational skills into our collaborative effort to grow organic systems.”
Wilmot has served as the executive director of the Ocean Wilderness Network and the Seatuck Environmental Association, and was a long-time policy analyst with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. She most recently worked as a media coordinator and event developer with Ocean Champions, a California-based organization dedicated to ocean conservation.
“I look forward to bringing my skills to OFRF’s effort to build a sustainable food production, processing and distribution system by advancing its organic research, policy, education and advocacy agenda,” said Wilmot.
Wilmot holds a B.A. in biology from the University of California Santa Cruz and an M.A. in marine affairs from the University of Rhode Island. She lives with her family in La Selva Beach, Calif. She began work with OFRF in late-February. Wilmot can be reached at OFRF at Maureen@ofrf.org or by phone at 831-426-6606 ext. 103.
About the Organic Farming Research Foundation
