Organics Research Proposal Deadline Looms
Organic Farming Research Foundation Sets Mid-May Date
SANTA CRUZ, Calif. – Organic farmers and researchers seeking funds to support organic research and education projects have until May 15, 2009 to submit proposals to the Organic Farming Research Foundation.
The foundation funds research on organic farming and food systems and the dissemination of these research results to the greater agricultural community. OFRF also offers funding to develop educational opportunities and materials aimed at organic or transitional producers.
OFRF is specifically soliciting proposals to conduct organic fruit research or education. These projects are funded through a partnership with Stretch Island Fruit Company. Funding is available for other subject areas as well.
OFRF recently revised its proposal submission requirements. The new requests for proposals can be found on the OFRF website at http://ofrf.org/grants/apply.html . For further information on submitting a proposal, contact OFRF’s organic research specialist Jane Sooby at jane@ofrf.org, phone 831-426-6606.
Proposals submitted this spring will be reviewed over the summer. Approved grants will be awarded by OFRF’s Board of Directors in November 2009.
About the Organic Farming Research Foundation
The Organic Farming Research Foundation was founded in 1990 to foster the improvement and widespread adoption of organic farming systems. OFRF sponsors organic farming research and education projects, disseminates the results to organic farmers and to growers interested in adopting organic production systems, and educates the public and policymakers about organic farming issues. The majority of OFRF’s board members are working organic farmers.
