Organic Farming Research Foundation Taps Denise Ryan to Direct External Relations

Hiring further positions OFRF leadership among American organic family farmers

Santa Cruz, CA (August 30, 2011) – The Santa Cruz, CA-based Organic Farming Research Foundation (OFRF) proudly announces the hiring of marketing expert, Denise Ryan, as External Relations Director for the organization. Denise brings a unique combination of hi-tech, entrepreneurial, and organic marketing expertise coupled with environmental dedication. She will lead the External Relations Team at OFRF which is comprised of development and online / offline communications.

“Denise brings the skills and expertise needed to further the OFRF mission of building support for the organic farmer,” said OFRF Executive Director, Maureen Wilmot. “She has abundant experience in building meaningful messaging and dialogue systems that engage audiences for both large profit and non-profit organizations. We are fortunate to have this kind of marketing strength join our team,” she added.

Prior to coming on board with OFRF, Denise founded and operated a Santa Cruz, CA-based strategic marketing business which provided service to companies in technology, renewable energy, complementary / alternative healthcare, natural product and eco-travel industries. In addition to working as Director of Channel Marketing at Oracle Corporation, Denise has served as VP Worldwide Marketing, International Major Accounts Marketing, and Line of Business Product Marketing for leading technology companies including MicroPro International, and The Santa Cruz Operation. She also served as Executive Director for The Enterprise Network, one of Silicon Valley's most successful entrepreneurial incubators. Denise serves on the Board of the Marina Technology Cluster along with several early stage ventures and helped launch the first women’s technology incubator at Smith College in Northampton, MA. She also served as the Communications Strategist for Ocean Champions, the leading political voice for ocean health and sustainability, and as Marketing Strategist for California Certified Organic Farmers (CCOF).

“If we are successful in external relations at OFRF, we will have inspired our partners and their constituents to have a deeper understanding and connection with the American organic family farmer. I am very proud to be a part of this mission,” said Denise.

Denise holds a BA in Communications and English from Western Michigan University. She has delivered presentations and workshops on many subjects including, early stage venture development, public relations, investor relations, social media marketing, positioning for competitive advantage and strategic marketing.

Denise will be attending the Natural Product Expo East (booth 2415) in Baltimore, MD September 21-24, 2011.
