What's at stake?
Tens of billions of taxpayer dollars go to support conventional agriculture, but only a tiny fraction of that is invested
in organic farming. Budget cuts now threaten even the modest resources we've been able to secure for organic agriculture.
With growing international pressure to cut commodity subsidies, conditions are ripe for positive change in US agriculture policy.
The 2007 budget process and upcoming Farm Bill are two critical opportunities for us to work together to defend or gains and increase
public support for organic agriculture.
Together we can make a difference.
Join OFRF's Organic Farmers Action Network and we will send you occasional policy updates to keep you informed and provide tools
for easy communication with your representatives in Congress. A well-timed phone call, e-mail or letter can make a big difference
in future farm policy.
Together we will advocate for:
- Increased funding for organic research, technical assistance and marketing support.
- Funding for and improved design of organic conservation programs.
