SUMMARY:Field Day at JL's Organic Orchards
DESCRIPTION:Join the Organic Farming Research Foundation (OFRF) for a field day at JL’s Organic Orchards in Zillah\, WA\, on June 9th at 10:00 AM PT\, hosted by farmer Jeff Leach! This is the second event in OFRF’s four-part series for technical service providers looking to deepen their understanding of organic production\, supported by WSARE (Western Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education). \nThis quarter’s focus is on organic pest management\, and the field day is a fantastic opportunity to see these practices in action on a working organic farm. Jeff will lead a farm walk sharing his firsthand experience managing pests\, diseases\, and weeds organically — including how his approach differs from conventional neighbors and what challenges and solutions he’s encountered along the way. The event will run approximately 2 hours and include a brief introduction\, a guided farm tour with open discussion\, and a Q&A wrap-up. Whether you’re new to advising organic operations or looking to expand your knowledge\, this is a welcoming\, conversation-driven event designed with you in mind. Space is limited\, so RSVP today to secure your spot. \nCertified Crop Advisors will have the opportunity to earn 2.0 Integrated Pest Management CEUs! \nRegister for Field Day\n \nThe field day at JL’s Organic Orchards is made possible through a project supported by WSARE\, Oregon Tilth\, and OFRF.

SUMMARY:Field Day: Soil Health for Small Farm Organic Regenerative Operations
DESCRIPTION:OFRF is excited to join the S.D. Specialty Producers Association (SDSPA) and Northern Plains Sustainable Ag (NPSAS) for a field day in Vermillion\, S.D to discuss soil health and conservation strategies for transitioning to small scale organic regenerative agriculture. This event includes practical demonstrations\, networking opportunities\, and a free lunch for attendees. \nParticipants will tour Genesis Gardens\, a faith-based urban-agriculture project\, which is part of Pulse of Life Church. This regenerative urban farm is transitioning from conventional to organic production under an NRCS OM-823 interim conservation practice contract. Participants will explore practical steps to build soil health\, reduce inputs\, and meet organic standards in smaller\, community-based production systems. \nSpeakers from Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS)\, BioFlora\, SDSPA\, and NPSAS TOPP Plains will discuss soil health\, conservation practices\, and organic transition strategies. \nPre-registration is required for this free event. \nRegister for Field Day\nThis program is funded under a Conservation Collaboration Cooperative Agreement between the NRCS and SDSPA to promote sustainable agriculture practices and environmental stewardship. Additionally\, this program is supported through the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Transition to Organic Partnership Program (TOPP). TOPP is a program of the USDA Organic Transition Initiative and is administered by the USDA Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) National Organic Program (NOP).
