Watch the recording here.  \n  \nThe National Organic Coalition (NOC) is partnering with the Organic Farmers Association (OFA)\, and Organic Farming Research Foundation (OFRF)\, to host a series of virtual farmer-to-farmer networking sessions\, Seeds of Success. These facilitated events will be interactive\, informal spaces for farmers to share their challenges and successes\, and will give farmers an opportunity to have open conversations on topics most relevant to them. \n  \nJoin us at 1 pm ET on January 30\, 2024 for the second session of the series\, Demystifying the National Organic Standards Board: What it is\, how it works\, and how it impacts your farm! \n  \nThis will be an interactive networking session for organic and transitioning farmers\, where a panel of farmers and advocates will demystify the NOSB. Panelists will explain the role of the NOSB in shaping organic standards and allowed materials\, the process the Board uses to make decisions\, and explain how your comments can make a difference in Board decisions. Your input matters! Watch the recording here. \nInterested in learning more about high tunnel vegetable production in the Southeast?  \nJoin OFRF and eOrganic on November 30\, 2023 to learn more about cost-effective high tunnel protected culture systems.  Commonly used for season extension and the production of high-value crops\, high tunnels are increasingly recognized by organic growers for their many benefits to help overcome site-specific challenges. This webinar will present and discuss up-to-date findings and recommendations from this research project with a focus on enhancing high tunnel organic vegetable production for the Southeast\, including crop management for season extension\, environmental management for microclimate manipulation\, soil health and nutrient management\, and pest and disease management.  \nDr. Xin Zhao will present on behalf of the interdisciplinary team of researchers and Extension experts from the University of Florida\, Florida A&M University\, University of Georgia\, and USDA-Agricultural Research Service that conducted this NIFA-OREI funded research.  \nDATE CHANGE: This webinar is now taking place on Thursday\, December 7th at 2:00 pm EST / 11:00 am PST. DESCRIPTION:Farmers will learn about the benefits and the how’s of conducting on-farm research and about the new OFRF Farmer-led Trials Program.\n\n\nFarmers and ranchers conduct experiments all the time. They constantly test and modify new or improved ways to farm. In this webinar\, farmers will learn about adding a few scientific steps to their farm tests that can produce more reliable results that they can trust. OFRF is excited to present this workshop as part of the new OFRF Farmer-led Trials Program (FLT) and the accompanying publication Farmers Guide to On Farm Research. This workshop is the official launch of OFRF’s new program that will promote farmer-led innovations in organic farming. DESCRIPTION:Join us to learn about successful farmer – researcher collaborations at our virtual Networking Session on October 25th\, 2pm EST.\n\n\nHave you ever wondered how to connect with a farmer or researcher to conduct on-farm research? This Researcher- Farmer Virtual Networking event will highlight the successes and challenges of engaging in farmer-researcher partnerships and focus on building positive outcomes for farmer and researcher collaboration in organic agriculture. \nJoin us on October 25th at 2pm ET for the first informal virtual networking event held via Zoom\, the Seeds of Success: Farmer-Researcher Networking Session. \nWe will be joined by four speakers that have participated in successful organic research projects funded by USDA NIFA. Two researchers: Julie Grossman and Eric Gallandt\, and their farmer collaborators\, Seth Kroeck and KaZoua Berry\, will share details on their experience and the process of engaging in on-farm research. \nThe session will begin with a brief introduction on USDA-NIFA organic programs and feature facilitated conversations on the topic of collaborative farmer-researcher projects that will support information sharing and identify possibilities for future research partnerships. \n \nFunding for this series is provided by a cooperative agreement between OFRF and USDA- NIFA to highlight research investments made through both OREI and ORG grant programs.
