Organic Certification Cost Share Applications Due October 31st

OFRF strongly encourages farmers to apply for the National Organic Certification Cost Share Program. Organic cost share reimburses individual organic operators up to 75% of their organic certification costs, with a maximum of $750 for each NOP scope of organic certification.

OFRF and others lobbied for this program in the 2012 Farm Bill. We need all farmers to participate in order to maintain funding for this important federal program that specifically benefits organic producers.

Any operation in good standing in the U.S. that received organic certification between October 1, 2015 and September 30, 2016 is eligible for one reimbursement per certificate or scope of certification. Clients with more than one certification scope may be eligible for more than one refund. Recognized scopes include:

•      Crops
•      Wild crops
•      Livestock
•      Processing/handling

Deadline for receipt of cost-share applications is October 31, 2016. Applications will be approved on a "first received and complete, first to get approved" basis.
