Researcher & Extension Regional Meetup

The Organic Farming Research Foundation (OFRF) is partnering with the High Plains Conference to host a special pre-conference meetup for organic researchers and extension specialists on February 9, 2026, in Cheyenne, Wyoming. There will also be an organic research track at the conference.

Pre-Conference Meetup – Monday, November 9, 2026
Afternoon/evening informal gathering for researchers, extension agents, and technical service providers to connect, share research updates, and learn about funding opportunities from USDA and others. This event is free to attend. Below is a loose agenda:
- 3:00-4:00 pm MT: Introductions
- 4:00-4:45 pm: Update and discussion on Competitive Grant Programs
- 4:45-5:00 pm: Break
- 5:00-6:30 pm: Structured Networking Event
- 6:30-7:00 pm: Closing and Happy Hour at Accomplice Brewing
Organic Research Conference Track – February 10-11, 2026
We are putting together a research track during the High Plains Organic Conference! Confirmed sessions include:
- How Organic Research Projects Involve Producers | OFRF
- Integrating Biological, Cultural, and Mechanical/Physical Tools for Long-Term Suppression of Creeping Perennial Weeds | Dr. Patrick Carr, Montana State University.
- Cereal-pea intercropping systems as a profitable cropping strategy to organic transitions and soil health | Dr. Xi Liang, University of Idaho.
- Biodegradable Composite Hydromulches for Sustainable Organic Horticulture | Dr. Greta Gramig, North Dakota State University.
- Developing Multi-use Naked Barley for Organic Farming Systems | Dr. Brigid Meints, Oregon State University.
- “Chat with a Researcher” opportunity for researchers to network and learn from one another.
