Secure the Future of Organic Farming
Ways to Participate in Planned Giving
By including the Organic Farming Research Foundation (OFRF) in your planned giving, you help ensure the continued growth and success of organic farming systems. Your generosity will have a lasting impact, fostering research, education, and advocacy for years to come. Here are two avenues of planned giving to consider.
Estate Planning
Planned giving through estate planning is a powerful way to leave a lasting impact on the future of organic farming. By naming the Organic Farming Research Foundation (OFRF) as a beneficiary in your will, trust, or retirement accounts, you ensure that your legacy supports the continued growth and success of sustainable agricultural systems. You can make a gift of cash, securities, real estate, or other assets, providing vital resources that enable OFRF to advance organic farming practices.
Bequests and Beneficiary Designations
Consider the long-lasting impact you can make by including OFRF in your estate plans. You can achieve this by making a simple designation in your will or trust, specifying that a portion of your estate be directed to OFRF. In addition, you can name OFRF as a beneficiary of your retirement accounts, such as an IRA or 401(k), or of life insurance policies. These gifts will ensure that your support for organic farming continues for generations to come.
Legacy Gifts
Creating a legacy gift is a meaningful way to support OFRF’s mission beyond your lifetime. By informing us of your planned gift, you help us plan for the future and provide a model of generosity and foresight. We invite you to contact us by emailing leah@ofrf.org to discuss your plans and how your gift will be used to support our long-term efforts.
IRA Account Donations
You can support OFRF through planned giving by making a gift from your IRA. This is called a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD). If you are 70 ½ or older, you can make direct, tax-free donations from your IRAs to eligible charities like OFRF. You can donate up to $100,000 annually, providing a tax-efficient way to contribute to our mission.
Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD)
If you meet the age requirement, a QCD offers a unique opportunity to support OFRF without incurring income taxes on your distribution. By directing these funds to OFRF, you can fulfill your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) while supporting the advancement of organic farming practices. This can be a highly effective way to manage your finances and charitable giving simultaneously.
Stories of Legacy and Impact
At OFRF, we believe that planned giving is not just a financial decision but a powerful way to create a lasting impact. By supporting organic farming systems through your estate plans, you can help foster a healthier planet and ensure a sustainable future for future generations. Here are two inspiring stories of individuals who chose to leave a legacy with OFRF.
Eoin King’s Legacy
Eoin King’s passion for organic farming began in his youth and continued throughout his life. Tragically, he passed away at 31, but his commitment to organic agriculture lives on through his generous bequest to OFRF. Eoin’s IRA contributions from his work at Vital Garden Supply now support our mission to improve and expand organic farming systems. His story inspires us to make impactful decisions for the future. Katrina’s Vision for a Sustainable Future

Katrina and her husband included OFRF in their will, aligning their deeply held values with their resources. “A planned gift is a gift to the future,” she says. “Together, let’s ensure the widespread adoption of organic farming practices.” Discover more about Katrina’s story and her inspiring blog post here.
