ORGANIZATIONAL BACKGROUND

The mission of the Organic Farming Research Foundation (OFRF) is to foster the improvement and widespread adoption of organic farming systems. OFRF envisions a future where organic farming is the leading form of agriculture. Since its founding in 1990, OFRF has sponsored organic farming research, education, and outreach to support organic and transitioning farmers across North America. This work is complemented by efforts to share our findings with policy makers, agricultural institutions, and federal agencies to support broader change and advance the organic sector.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Data Integrity Specialist is a full-time, temporary position (June-Sept 2026) and is not eligible for benefits. While the organization is based in Santa Cruz, CA, this position can work remotely within the continental USA.

The Data Integrity Specialist will hold responsibility for cleaning up OFRF’s organizational database, including maintaining existing records, merging duplicates, and entering new data collected. They will provide support organization-wide to improve our internal recordkeeping, supporting the organization in the next phase of growth in building subscribers, segmenting our audiences, and cultivating relationships. This position reports to the Deputy Director.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain records and datasets in OFRF’s organizational database (Virtuous), including reconciliation of current data integrity, constituent research, general data entry, and imports of new external contacts.
  • Manually clean data records, including deduplications, address verification, organizational relationships, tagging, etc. in Virtuous, especially for our farmer and researcher audience.
  • Review and audit data for accuracy, investigate and resolve discrepancies.
  • Update and maintain database standard operating procedures for organization-wide use.
  • Other relevant duties as assigned by your supervisor.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in professional data management or recordkeeping with the ability to organize large datasets and work through complex systems.
  • Previous experience with customer relationship management (CRM) systems, Virtuous a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to organize large datasets while ensuring data accuracy.
  • Demonstrated ability to show initiative, achieve goals, and meet deadlines.
  • Experience working collaboratively in a remote setting and comfort using Google and remote project management tools, such as Asana.
  • Ability to learn new systems, databases, and large datasets in multiple formats.
  • Understanding of constituent management principles and knowledge of best practices related to confidentiality and security.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with a team to solve problems, improve workflows, and collaborate with colleagues, donors, and volunteers.
  • Interest in the improvement and widespread adoption of organic farming systems a plus.

COMPENSATION and BENEFITS 

Pay range $28-35 per hour, depending on experience. This position is not eligible for benefits.
