Mary Hathaway has spent over a decade working in sustainable and equitable food systems across the Southeast — farming, organizing, and building connections between research and practice. As Research and Education Manager at OFRF, she leads Farmer-Led Trials, collaborating with organic farmers to develop on-farm research that reflects real-world challenges in the field. She also creates actionable resources that bridge the gap between research findings and farm-level practice, making sure good science becomes useful science.

A Master’s Degree in Agroecology underpins her collaborative, systems-thinking approach, and her energy and enthusiasm inspire everyone around her. In her spare time, she’s happiest near the ocean, deep in a conversation about composting, or building Lego creatures alongside her son.
