WHY ORGANIC

There’s lots of reasons to go organic. Here’s our top ten!

ORGANIC FOR CLIMATE

Climate change poses critical risks for farmers and ranchers, and endangers the soil, water, and other resources on which food production depends. Rising temperatures have already intensified droughts, heat waves, and storms, making it harder to grow crops and raise livestock.

EDUCATION

OFRF translates research into practical resources and educational platforms that help organic farmers and ranchers implement best practices and advancements in organic agriculture. From guidebooks to webinars and more, all of our resources are available to access for free.

ADVOCACY

OFRF has been amplifying the voice of America’s organic farmers and researchers for three decades. Our leadership in organic policy yields support through Congress, USDA, and state governments. OFRF’s unique strategy directs advocacy on Capitol Hill and regional grassroots throughout America. We are joined by thousands of advocates, just like you, who are committed to making organic farming the leading form of agriculture in America.

MANAGING ON-FARM RISK

From the uncertainty of weather and the markets, to understanding which events are most likely to impact you—risk management is an important part of decision making on the farm. OFRF in cooperation with USDA, has developed guidebooks and webinars on how organic and transitioning growers can manager on-farm risk through crop insurance and sound soil health management.

RESOURCES

At OFRF, one of the ways we stay informed is through our relationships with other organizations working toward the success of organic farmers.
