Field Day: Soil Health for Small Farm Organic Regenerative Operations
June 18 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm UTC-5
| FreeOFRF is excited to join the S.D. Specialty Producers Association (SDSPA) and Northern Plains Sustainable Ag (NPSAS) for a field day in Vermillion, S.D to discuss soil health and conservation strategies for transitioning to small scale organic regenerative agriculture. This event includes practical demonstrations, networking opportunities, and a free lunch for attendees.
Participants will tour Genesis Gardens, a faith-based urban-agriculture project, which is part of Pulse of Life Church. This regenerative urban farm is transitioning from conventional to organic production under an NRCS OM-823 interim conservation practice contract. Participants will explore practical steps to build soil health, reduce inputs, and meet organic standards in smaller, community-based production systems.
Speakers from Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS), BioFlora, SDSPA, and NPSAS TOPP Plains will discuss soil health, conservation practices, and organic transition strategies.
Pre-registration is required for this free event.
