The Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association Common Ground Country Fair, held in Unity, Maine, is an annual rural living and agricultural celebration. It features over 1,000 exhibitors and speakers, with a focus on sustainable living, local economies, and organic agriculture. Rebecca Champagne, OFRF’s Conservation Scientist, and Clare Boland, OFRF Communications Manager, will be presenting at the fair this year.

Join us for “Organic in the Northeast: Farmer Insights & Challenges” on Friday, September 25 at 12 p.m. in the Windsor Tent.

OFRF recently conducted a national survey of organic farmers to gain insight into production challenges and technical assistance needs. In the Northeast, organic farmers cited challenges related to precipitation variability, increased pest pressure, and farm labor costs. This presentation will discuss the findings from the survey and listening sessions, and how research can be used to boost farmer resiliency.
