Webinar: Organic Methods for Weed Management in the South
November 10 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm EST
Weed pressure is one of the most persistent challenges in organic production. In the South, long growing seasons, diverse weed species, and humid conditions make it even more demanding. This webinar walks through the full toolkit available to organic producers: cultural, mechanical, physical, thermal, and NOP-approved inputs, grounded in the “many little hammers” approach that growers rely on.
We’ll also cover weed biology basics, how weed management fits within the NOP, and recent research findings relevant to Southern production systems. Join presenter Rebecca Champagne (OFRF) with panelists Peter Dittmar (University of Florida IFAS) and Katie Jennings (NC State University) for a research-informed discussion with practical takeaways you can apply directly with the farmers you serve.
Designed for technical service providers, extension agents, and farmers in the South working with or transitioning to organic systems. CEU credits (1.0, Integrated Pest Management) will be offered.
